D.A.
Gleason, Marketing Manager for WPVI, Channel 6 Philadelphia called in
after finding us on the Internet. She saw the various props to choose
from and wanted to know more. She was asked to "Come on down"
to see what was available to develop the theme. With the Event only three
weeks away, there were concerns that the displays needed to convey an
“over the top” impression would not be available nor cost
efficient to produce.
The same afternoon of her call,
D.A., Patrick Hurley(Marketing Coordinator) and Kevin Phelan(Scenic Designer)
arrived to tour The Theme Factory warehouse. Once satisfied that many
of the items needed for the event were available, arrangements were made
for Kevin to come in throughout the week to select props and create mock
set ups for the event. With the help of the TTF staff, Kevin was able
to put together the various stations in his design.
A strategy was put in place regarding the time constraints on loading
in to the Constitution Center. The strategy was simple. Move it…fast.
On the evening of August 11,
2004, an entranceway with large three-dimensional Channel 6 ABC logos
atop a pair of brick columns greeted the guests.
Prior to viewing "Six and the City, a video presentation of the upcoming
fall season, guests were guided to an outdoor deck for cocktails and hors
oeuvres. Once the preview was complete, everyone came out to a fantastic
dinner buffet, catered by the excellence of Max & Me.
Huge glittering Silver Star entrances opened up each of the five themed
areas, associated with Channel Six’s involvement with the Philadelphia
Zoo, Thanksgiving Day Parade, US Pro Cycling Championship, Welcome America,
and The Flower Show.
The showcase event was a hit; On Target….On Time…On Budget.
